Khartoum , March 14 ( Kem)—Sudan National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) keeps close surveillance and monitoring of a number of suspicious hideouts and criminal cells in the capital ,a senior officer said Thursday.
NISS Deputy Director General Jalal Eddin Al-Sheikh , when inspecting this morning the arms-laden truck seized lately and the illegal arms warehouse stormed last Tuesday in west Omdurman , pledged that surveillance and monitoring will be maintained and intensified to target and expose such criminal dens and cells.
The ranking intelligence officer revealed plans masterminded by some armed rebel movements and opposition forces in tandem aimed at shedding of blood and creating wide-spread chaos in the country.
“The raided hideouts , uncovered cells and the arms seized lately”, the security General disclosed, ”particularly the guns and revolvers were meant to create chaos and liquidations among protestors” with the aim of putting the blame on security forces .
Chief of the NISS Political Department explained that the arms cache seized yesterday included 120 Kalashnikov rifles, 3 Droshkies , 8 guns , 5 Howitzers , 5 sniper rifles , 4 silencers and 5 rocket-propelled- grenade (RPG) guns in addition to 40 belts of dynamite explosives , 22 revolvers and 2 Morris rifles, apart from great and varied quantities of ammunition .
NISS Political Commissar revealed that the catch was fruit of 40 days of continuous and close surveillance by using all and necessary means until the first cell was arrested three weeks before in Ghedarif state, followed by Sennar cell apprehended last January.
The west Omdurman illegal arms warehouse , raided past Tuesday, contained 100 Kalashnikovs , 4 Droshkies , 10 GIMs-3 , one Israeli Ezra gun , 12 US Cole revolvers , 40 Oscar guns and a 10B gun, he explained , adding that these quantities of weapons came from western Sudan from the arms flow incoming from Libya brought by mercenary terrorist movements fighting alongside certain Libyan factions.
The Political Commissar indicated that NISS was able to lay hands on these arms shipments in a professional way and without facing much resistance , pointing out that from the eventual interrogations and verification of information it was able to mount yesterday’s operation.
The NISS Deputy Director said the machination of using the seized weapons in eliminating protestors and blaming security forces for the assassinations was thus defeated by the high vigilance and professionalism of the security authorities ,which, he vowed, will not allow such criminal plots , hailing people’s cooperation and care for the country’s safety and security.
General Jalal Eddin warned that these criminal and conspiratorial cells have arms in and outside the country, reminding of the big amount of cash seized lately with one individual transferred to him from abroad to finance subversive cells at home.
He called upon citizens to cooperate with the security service and to notify of any suspicious
moves or elements thought detrimental to security and any possible hideouts used for carrying out criminal acts of subversion.
The NISS ranking officer pledged security vigilance and action in favor of law , people and ordinary citizen, emphasizing that “the security apparatus is one hand and one man in protecting this country’s security”
