Information Ministry discusses reforming state services.

Planning Council of the Ministry of Information met Tuesday under Vice Premier and Information Minister Dr. Ahmad Bilal Osman to discuss a number of issues related to reform of state services, particularly those related to the media and its laws over the next phase.

Information Undersecretary Ambassador Yasser Khader in a press statement following the meeting,which  included Minister of State Yasir Yousef and the heads of the media organs, said that the meeting decided to form three committees, one to consider issues of interest to Sudan News Agency, its functions and everything that interferes with its march to enable it become  the first  news source. The second committee is to consider issues of administrative set-up of the National Authority for Radio and Television and the Sudanese Broadcasting Authority. The third subcommittee will be tasked with execution of the Media Production City project.

Ambassador Khadr said that the meeting also dealt with issues related to laws of institutions of the Ministry of Information and its units as well as preparations and planning for the newly formed Supreme Council of Information which was recently appointed headed by President of the Republic Marshal Omar al-Bashir.
