Khartoum , May 21 (Kem)—The Transitional Military Council and the Freedom and Change forces resumed negotiations Monday night with percentage of representation and presidency of the sovereign council remaining  to be the sticking point between the military and civilian negotiators.

The round of negotiations started at 9 pm local time and continued into the early hours of Tuesday. The two sides resumed talks last Sunday after the Military Council declared a suspension of three days pending the opening of roads and railway line in the capital by protestors , who responded by returning traffic to normal.

In a joint press release , the two sides said “ sensing the historical responsibility upon our shoulders, We will persevere in reaching an early and satisfactory accord that meets Sudanese people’s aspirations and realizes goals of the  glorious December revolution”.

Technical committees between the two sides will in the meantime continue their task.

Last Sunday, the Military and Freedom and Change forces met and re-pledged points of agreement reached during past sessions, including powers of the three transitional governance bodies, sovereign council, cabinet and legislative assembly. Agreement was reached on the latter two  including their composition while negotiations still continue with the former issue.
