Sudan Government and Prisma German Company signed a framework agreement for construction of solar power plants in addition to strengthening the electricity transmission networks and substations throughout Sudan. ABB German Company and Sudan ministries of finance, minerals, water resources, irrigation and electricity signed agreement.
Agreement required that Prisma to bring mining equipments used to clean white sand and silicon in Al-Matama in Nile River and Bara area of North Kordofan State.
The targeted amount of sand for these projects is about 2 million tons of the large quantities available in Sudan, which is estimated at more than 3 billion tons. The agreement also added value for white sand before exportation by chemical and mechanical treatments. Sand will be exported according to the international stock price on the export day.
It also provided for opening of credit to Bank of Sudan with the value of sand loaded before export.
Director General of the Electricity Holding Company Eng. Saleh Ali Abdullah said that signing is considered qualitative breakthrough for the construction of electricity infrastructure the country. He pointed out that this sand is the highest quality in Africa and the proportion of silicon is more than 90%.
Prisma has been in contact with Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity for a year and a half and concluded talks with agreement.
